The A’s low scoring offense (21.6 ppg) was led by Howard Grindle (109 pts), who scored double figures in half the games. However, their defense held eight teams to less than 18 points to produce the eight wins. Coach Barnhart’s teams were known for their man-to-man defenses. It was, also, the first year for the OHSAA State tournament in six sections of the State so there was no trip to Delaware. Instead the Orange and Black went to Cleveland for the NE District at Western Reserve University. The A’s lost in the first round of the tournament, as did all six of the NCO League teams. |
