Ashland got a new gymnasium, which is now called McDowell Auditorium, and a new coach Sid Boyd, who changed the A’s to a zone defense on the larger court. His "Speedboys" won the NCO with a 4-1 record, and Elmer Fisher won the league’s scoring crown with 57 points. James Donley and Fisher (126 pts) split the co-captains duties. Paul "Beanie" Johnson was the second leading scorer with 89 points. Dick Paxton, Fred Larue, and Earl Kirkpatrick were the other starters.
