The Orange and Black were rated 2nd in Ohio in the regular season polls. The two loses were to Mansfield which reached the Final 4 in the State tournament. The A’s set a state record in the sectional against Bucyrus with 108-points. Paul “Bud” Jones was the leading scorer with 299 points. Bill Rogers, who scored 265 points, was 1st team All-Ohio in the UP and the AP awards. Co-Capt Ray Bates scored 169 pts, and the rest of the starting quintet: Norm McVicker (156), Lew Russell (132), and Howard Fackler (118 pts) scored all but 89 of the record total 1228 points.
