With no starters and one returning lettermen Coach C. E. Taylor again produced an outstanding team. Again three games with Mansfield defined the season. The Red and White ranked 8th in Ohio and the Orange and Black got to 11th place. In the Sectional Finals Bushnell’s bunny shot at the buzzer for a 45-44 win ranks as one of the all-time Ashland disappointments in basketball.
Dick Barr, who received honorable mention All-Ohio, led the team with 343 points. Capt Ron Bechtel had 226 points. Jim Roseboro (198 pts), Russ Harpster (158 pts), and Clair Howey (131 pts) reached the second highest all-time total to that time.
