George Valentine’s quintet was the highest scoring unit (75.3 ppg) in history. Using the zone defense and a fast break his team, also, set the home court record at McDowell with 107 points against Lime Senior. Max Messner set the single game record with 40 points at Wooster, and a season record 389 rebounds. His 452 points moved into second (1012 pts) on the all-time list behind his older brother Dick Messner. Dave Brubaker, junior forward (351 pts), Jim Diffendorfer (204 pts), Jim Runyon (168 pts), Tom Hipp (162 pts), and Larry Brockway (91 pts) were all underclassmen, which provided optimism for the next season.
