The Orange and Black cagers won the 4th straight Cardinal Conference title and 3rd Sectional crown in four years. Co-Captains Dave Honaker, a 3rd team All-Ohio, and Gary Baum were both 1st-team All-CC, and they led the team in scoring with 378 and 299 points respectively. Honaker, also, had 261 rebounds. Randy Emmons, the only underclassman in the starting line up, had 193 points. Mark Hamilton (151 pts and the school record 179 assists) and George Andress (102 pts) earned their second monograms. It was the era of the “ghetto” bus and the “anticipated” trips to Bowling Green. Celina ended the fans hopes for the Regional trip, too.
