New head coach Walt Harrop was greeted by five letter-winners. It was the last year of the Cardinal Conference, and the last CC game was pinnacle of the season. They upset league leader Wooster on Mike Garbash’s 25-point night. The starting quintet was: Mike Garbash (296 pts) best field goal percentage and rebounds; Steve Petee (291 pts) best free throw shooter; Matt McElwain (243 pts) most improved; Jim Barr (211 pts) best defensive player; and Randy Wilson (151 pts). The sixth-man award went to Columbus Woodruff (133 pts). Garbash was 1st team All-CC and Petee was 2nd team.
